New Banner Unfurled

Here’s a photo of PolkaWorks on stage at Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2014 proudly displaying our new banner.

  With thanks to Katy Coope

  for her design work and

  Tim Titchener for getting

  the banner produced.

  We think it looks fantastic!

Touring and Chocolate

PolkaWorks were on the road over Easter 2014, notching up three gigs, two callers and one sound engineer in four days. There wasn’t even time for eating Easter eggs!

We had a fun time launching our CD Borrowed Shoes to dancers in Sheffield, Brighouse and Derby.

Huge thanks to Baz Parkes and Bob Morgan for calling the ceilidhs and to Charley Roberts for providing excellent sound. Safe pairs of hands all round.

The 2nd PolkaWorks Workshop Weekend

Thanks to all who participated in our second workshop weekend and ceilidh at Halsway Manor, Friday 28th – Sunday 30th March 2014.

Comments back so far include “fantastic”, “wonderful” and “great fun”!

We had a great time teaching, dancing, playing and advising; not to mention eating cream teas in the sunshine in the grounds of the beautiful manor house. Divine.

And we’d like to thank…

… lots of people for their hard work, diligence and time in helping us produce our debut CD, Borrowed Shoes. We are very proud of the new arrival and we hope you love it and it makes you want to dance. So BIG thanks go to:

For making it look amazing – Katy Coope and Kev at Pure Music

For making it sound fabulous – Martin Appleby, Aidan Hansell and Nick Cooke

For making it available to the whole world – John Howson

For the loan of his melodeon – Keith Holloway

For providing tea, sympathy and gin and tonic at the appropriate times – our families

Happy Halsway Attendees
