Katie Howson has been playing the melodeon since jumping off a bus over 30 years ago to buy one in a junk shop – and thank goodness she did. She is influenced by the older generation of English traditional players and plays one-row and two-row melodeons and mouthorgan. Her expertise, finesse and love of the music shine through whenever she plays.

Katie also leads the Valiant Dance Band and plays on special occasions with fellow mouthorgan player Martin Brinsford. Previously she led the Old Hat Dance Band, Old Hat Concert Party and Katie’s Quartet. She founded and directed the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust until 2017, running all sorts of traditional music events. Find out more about her current projects at katiehowson.co.uk.
